To reach the "Palais des Papes" in Avignon 

The "Palais des Papes" is at the very center of Avignon. 

You have to arrive either at:

Avignon-centre train station (1km). It is the 10min walk to the Palais des Papes

Avignon-TGV (3.5km). There will be several option to reach the Palace 

  1. Train every 30min (travel time 5 min) to reach Avignon Centre and then 10 min walk to the Palais des Papes (8€)
  2. Taxi (14min, 15-19€)
  3. We have planed to organise a shuttle service Sunday 25 and Friday 30 in the afternnon between Avignon TGV and Palais des Papes (typically 5 to 10 rotations in the afternnon). Detailed will come soon.

Plane + Train :

   You can arrive in 4 different airports : Paris-CDG, Paris-Orly, Lyon Saint Exupery and Marseille Provence

  • From Marseille-Provence airport  : 2 options 
  1. Take the Bus L40 to reach Aix-TGV train station (see https://www.marseille.aeroport.fr/parkings-et-acces/acces/bus/ ).On bus every 30min (10min travel time).  Then on train every 30min typically from Aix-TGV to Avignon-TGV (35 min travel time)
  2. Take the Bus L13+ to reach "Vitrolles Aeroport Marseille" to "Avignon Centre" at least one every hour. (see https://www.marseille.aeroport.fr/parkings-et-acces/acces/bus/ ). One bus every 15min (5min travel time). Then on train every hour typically to Avignon-Centre (1hour travel time)

  • From Lyon Saint Exupery airport : 2 options 

  1. There is 2 trains @ 2:37 pm and 7pm from Lyon-St Exupery train station to Avignon TGV (travel time between 50 min and 1h)   
  2. you can also reach the Lyon Pardieu train station with the "Rhône xpress sercvice" (from 04:25 to 00:00), 30min journey every 15minutes and then 1 TGV per hour to Avignon-TGV (travel time 01h06)
  •  From Paris-CdG airport : 2 options 
  1. there is 6 direct trains from Paris-CDG train station to Avignon TGV between 8:30 to 9:50 (travel time~3h)
  2. you can also reach "Paris Gare de Lyon" train station :
    • RER B from CdG Airport to Chatelet les Halles + RER A from Charellet-Les Halle to Gare de Lyon (1 stop) typical 1h journey, on train every 10 min.
    • Then there is about one train (TGV) per hour for Avignon-TGV (travel time ~ 2h50) between 6am to 8pm

  •  From Paris-Orly airport : 

    • Go to "Paris Gare de Lyon" train station : OrlyVal (Orly to Antony)
    • RER B from Antony to Chatelet les Halles + RER A from Charellet-Les Halle to Gare de Lyon (1 stop)
    • typically 1h journey, on train every 10min. 
    • There is about one train (TGV) per hour for Avignon-TGV (travel time ~ 2h50) between 6am to 8pm

 

Plane + car (there will be possibility to park a car in a parking nearby the Palais des Papes)
